June
- Hand pull yellow nutsedge or apply Sedgehammer in your lawn up until June 21st..
- Spray azaleas and rhododendrons with Bonide All-Season Oil Spray to control lacebug. Spray in the early morning or evening when
temperatures are moderate and their is no rain in the forecast. - Put soaker hoses in the garden to conserve water during those hot, dry summer days.
- Attract hummingbirds and butterflies to your landscape by planting Butterfly Bush, Bee Balm, Hardy Hibiscus, Lobelia, Scabiosa, and
Coreopsis. - Pinch back annual herbs and thin basil.
- Check squash, cantaloupe, cucumber, and zucchini plants for squash borers. Cut borers out of stems and use Rotenone when still
at a larval stage. - Continue planting trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, vegetables, and herbs. Consider adding some exotic color to your deck or
patio with tropical plants. Be sure to treat tropical plants like mandevilla and hibiscus with systemic granules every 6 weeks to
prevent spider mites, mealybug, and aphids - populations will be exploding throughout the summer months.
- Bring Dad to the garden center to pick out a garden tool, tree, lawn product or gloves of his choice!
- Apply Hi-Yield Kill a Grub in June to prevent grubs, armyworm, sod webworm, and cutworms. A new technology that is safe for birds
and earthworms.
- Apply F-Stop mid-June to mid-July to prevent diseases in your lawn.
