Herbs

Over 43,000 Seedlings of flowering annuals, vegetables, and herbs are grown on site each season. Below represents a small array of herbs you can find at Indian Creek Nursery and Garden Center in Omaha.
Rosemary Lemon Thyme Cilantro

Cilantro, also known as coriander, is a fast growing annual reaching 12-24 inches tall. Cilantro has a strong flavor and gets stronger as the leaves mature and get larger. This herb is a must in salsa and guacamole and tastes spectacular when sprinkled over stir-fried vegetables.

To grow rosemary at home, be sure the plant has good drainage. Rosemary likes to be moist, but hates sitting in water. Rosemary likes humidity and sun. Use this herb in pork, fish, chicken, and vegetable dishes. Even try steaming red potatoes with one tablespoon of fresh rosemary, add butter if you prefer, and serve! Rosemary is extremely high in iron, calcium, and Vitamin B6.

Lemon thyme is a particular variety of thyme that has distinct lemon scent and a sweeter flavor than regular thyme. Great with fish, chicken, and egg dishes. Thyme is slow to release its flavors and is usually added early in the cooking process. The lemony smell and variegated leaves make a beautiful plant even when not using for culinary purposes!

Oregano

Oregano is often used in tomato sauces, on vegetables, and is a perfect addition to Mediterranean dishes. Together with basil, it contributes much to the distinctive character of many Italian dishes. Choose fresh oregano over the dried form of the herb since it is superior in flavor.
